Tree Pollarding
Tree Pollarding Essex
Tree Pollarding in Essex is usually performed as a last resort, the entire crown of a tree is removed to leave only the main trunk system. It is common practice along roadsides to pollard trees, but on a domestic level it is more often advised to remove a tree and re-plant rather than pollard.
Although not the best option, sometimes tree pollarding becomes the only way to retain a tree that may have been allowed to out-grow a given area.
Shown above, a 175-200 year old Holm Oak for the local district council had to be pollarded for safety reasons due to extensive internal decay. Also shown above is the Picus test which detected 80%+ structural deterioration.
